"Working with others for the benefit of all is the approach Miamisburg's city officials have taken during the past year. The approach has been recognized by others as the city continues to move forward. "Our city is among those setting the pace in partnerships," said Mayor Richard Church Jr., in his annual state of the city address. "The city of Miamisburg has for many years recognized the importance of partnerships in making local government the best it can be. These relationships are not limited to those with other governmental bodies but within our community as well." In 2006, Miamisburg received recognition for its involvement with the financing agreement along with three other communities for the future of the Interstate 75/Austin Center interchange and for its local partnerships with area businesses to revitalize the downtown area as well as the Mound facility reuse. In downtown, a project is renovating a historic structure that was once the Miami Hotel, which was donated to the city in 2003. A group of local business people stepped forward with a plan to bring the building back to life with new retail space on the lower level and office space or apartments on the upper levels. Work began in the fall and the city was to secure a $150,000 Community Development Block grant to replace the one-story building behind the hotel with a new public parking lot. "
